Well, like I said earlier, the purpose of this article is to bring to light the various options available when an AS decides to marry AS or SS.
After these options, you can now think about it and make a great decision together.
OPTIONS AVAILABLE FOR AN AS GENOTYPE COUPLE.
Technological innovations have led to improvement in all spheres of life including Medical field.
Genetically speaking, There’s 25% chance of birthing a sickle cell(Sickler) as an AS couple. What this means is that 1 out of every 4 children you birth will be an SS child.
But then, there options available to have healthy children.

OPTION ONE: CHORIONIC VILLUS SAMPLING ( CVS)
This is a prenatal test that can be used to detect congenital or birth disabilities, genetic diseases, Sickle Cell and other pregnancy related issues.
The test is best performed at 10-12 weeks from the woman last menstrual period.
The advantage of this test is that it can detect if a child will have Sickle cell Anaemia but the hard part is that the couple will keep terminating any pregnancy once it’s been detected that the unborn child(ren) would be a Sickle Cell Carrier.
Also there is risk of miscarriage and infection if the process is not handled well.
Well, if this option isn’t an option for you, let’s check out the second one.
OPTION TWO: AMNIOCENTESIS TEST
This is also a prenatal test and it is best carried out when the woman is about 15-18 weeks pregnant.
The test is done by removing a small amount of amniotic fluid from the sac surrounding the foetus for testing.
The result is usually ready between 2-3 weeks.
If the test detects that the unborn child is an SS, the pregnancy is instantly aborted just like option one.
PGD refers to the process of screening embryos for genetic diseases.
In other words, it is used to detect genetic diseases within the embryo and stop it from being transferred to the child if there’s any.
The embryos used in pre- implantation genetic diagnosis are created during a procedure known as In Vitro Fertilization.
In the process of In vitro Fertilization, the egg is retrieved and fertilized in a lab.
The egg is then evaluated to check if there’s any problematic gene. If none is found, it is placed back into the uterus via In Vitro Fertilization.
The testing takes 1-2 weeks. This option is quite expensive especially when compared to the previous ones. In Nigeria, it is about Four Million Naira ( N4,000,000)

OPTION 4. BE ON PERMANENT BIRTH CONTROL PILLS.
This is the cheapest of them all. You can go ahead and marry the love of your life. This means you should not think of giving birth at all. But it’s not that bad. You can adopt children and live happily ever after with your partner.
In a nutshell, the above listed options except the last one are not for average Nigerians. You have to be well boxed up financially, like you have to be rich. If you are an AS couple and you don’t have the resources it takes not be birth a Sickle Cell Child or Children and you wish to get married, ride on but consider option four- be on permanent birth control pills or adopt children or if you both are cool with it, just enjoy your life without children.

The truth is, it’s not going to be easy having your child experience near deaths crisis right before your eyes, you’d wish you can take the pains instead but you won’t be able to. It won’t be easy loosing a child after the pains of birthing one. Do not bring a child into this world to suffer. If any of the above options is not an option for you, then BREAK UP. Save yourself and an unborn child pains.
Love isn’t enough. Remember, a family isn’t just about the both of you so put into consideration the ones you will birth in the future.

The following simple mixtures will blend your knuckles with your skin naturally:
SUGAR AND OLIVE OIL: These two can serve as natural exfoliating scrub. All you need do is to mix the sugar and olive oil together in equal amount, rub in circles on your knuckles for 5 minutes or a little bit more, rinse with water and soap and you’re good to go.
BAKING SODA AND LEMON JUICE: Make a paste with baking soda and lemon juice. Do not make it too thick. Spread the paste on your knuckles for about 20 minutes,rinse off and moisturize your hands thereafter.
LEMON JUICE AND HONEY: Lemon can be used to naturally lighten your skin. Mix the juice from lemon and honey together,apply on your knuckles and allow it to sit for 10 minutes, then wash off with lukewarm water ALMOND OIL: This is good for the general health of your skin. Use it to massage your knuckles gently for a few minutes, do this at night and let it stay overnight. Do this daily and watch your knuckles glowing and popping in all freshness.
TOOTHPASTE,SUGAR,LEMON(LIME) AND TOMATO MIXTURE: Don’t forget we are going natural in clearing dark knuckles permanently. To use the above items, get a white toothpaste (Colgate preferably), squeeze some in a small plate or cup, add sugar, get a lime or lemon and squeeze the juice into the plate (remove the seeds) then mix thoroughly. Cut the tomato into two, dip it at intervals into the mixture and use it to scrub your knuckles very well. Then rinse off.
It is obvious that the above listed mixtures would cost little or nothing to gather. They mostly in our homes. There’s no reason to keep seeing dark knuckles no more. Just choose any of the mixtures and be consistent with it. Trust me, you will get results without side effects.
